Not so secret page of the things I tend to do

Hi. I’m Peet. This page is on the kind of projects I like to do and tend to offer most value to both the project members, stakeholders and participants. In a nutshell, my areas of expertise and how my skills and experience can be best be used in collaborations:

Common missions and responsibilities

  • Rolling out strategic projects on digital services and innovation – including stakeholder management (in politically dynamic environments), and organising various sessions, research with and for everyday people, developing plans, aligning the organisation, and implementing everything in clear and simple language. I use a variety of methods and perspectives for this, but https://enterprise.design is a great starting point and of course getting focus on a impact-radar (rather than a tech-radar) with various strategies per topic: https://petersneekes.nl/2024/01/focus-on-your-innovation-strategy/. The best strategy is delivery. That’s why I work iterative and with increasing quality and clarity, just like loading a JPEG image in the olden days.
  • Assessing an organisation’s maturity in areas like emerging technology, design, digital services and innovation — especially identifying what’s needed for sustainable growth and how to adapt strategy for specific topics (for example, how to act on the National Technology Strategy as a government department, or how to take the next step in the growth of your CX capabilities (https://petersneekes.nl/2023/09/customer-experience-and-maturity/))
  • Critical and exploratory reflection through speculative design/innovation — innovating as a way to spark dialogue and capture sentiment, plot out the zeitgeist, societal impact and applicability of the underlying business models. This includes exploring the potential societal impact of broadly deployed technologies such as AI, or understanding the implications for the supplier market when pursuing strategies focused on digital autonomy or digital sovereignty. An example of this is running a applied-innovation practice for Mirabeau/ Cognizant using Human Centered Design as one of the guiding principles: https://petersneekes.nl/2021/12/mirabeau-cognizant-makerspace-and-innovation-lab/.
  • Leadership in all areas related to Customer/ Citizen Experience (CX) and Employee/ public servant Experience (EX/ PSX) — from CX/EX/PSX strategy to building and leading the necessary teams. Keywords here include customer blueprint, branding, market fit, communication, and service strategies, but also effect based strategies and identity based future mapping (https://petersneekes.nl/2024/07/identity-driven-progress-purpose-and-personality-in-your-future-decisions/). I serve as content lead for various teams, overseeing everything from creation and development to consolidation and transitioning into maintenance mode.
  • Hype man, Advocate and Publicist for righteous projects, initiatives and publications. Just check out my socials to see my approach on personal title. Imagine that with a budget and time … It’ll be more awesome and cool. (https://petersneekes.nl/category/social/)
  • Host, guest speaker and broadcaster. Through out my career I have organised and hosted various events, trying to put some people in the hot seat, have other people come to their own and basically be a positive energy so that people can tell their story, without a conversation ending up a a fluff piece and with the mission to have audience end up with a broader perspective and interesting take away’s. My work values and methods

I tend to work with these values in mind.

  • Steward of clarity for ‘normal’ people (ie clients, participants, citizens, investors, project members)
  • Explorer of quality and positive progression. I search out quality: this is good, but how can we make it better, so it’s more sustainable, more open for change, better suitable tomorrow.
  • Maker of interesting things. I like to make stuff (happening) I do this to get a feel for thing and as a way to increase mutual understanding, discussion and exploration. Making = speed, speed = more clarity.
  • Unbridled curiosity and open mindset.
  • Shared Mutual Understanding is KEY, so everybody shares the responsibility to maintain said understanding. I’ll be the steward of the ways to do that.
  • Impact of our work is our driver, so not just me, but I expect it to be of my collaborators. We’re talking about social, personal, and societal impact.
  • Mythbusters style approach: “We start by testing the thesis as it’s described. If that doesn’t work, we see if we can recreate the result through other means.”

Valued collaborators

I love working with and in service of these kind of people. Call it my A-Team setup to create clarity, a well thought out narrative, in depth research on tech, economics and impact on people. This setup is invaluable for any innovative and explorative mission with sustainable results.
